Tentativas de Suicídio; Efeito Werther; Efeito Contágio.
RESUMO Esta pesquisa é fruto da prática clínica no Sistema Único de Saúde na cidade de Caçador/SC. Durante o ano de 2021 foram atendidos 51 casos de tentativas de suicídio e ideações suicidas no serviço de psicologia da Saúde Mental do referido município. Entre estes casos se constatou uma parcela pequena de pacientes, que embora não estivesse relacionada a Transtornos Mentais ou a eventos recentes ou remotos que pudessem justificar a tentativa, ainda assim apresentou ideações ou fez tentativa de suicídio naquele ano. Inicialmente se buscou pesquisar junto a estes participantes que motivos os levaram a tal ato. Pouco a pouco a pesquisa foi direcionada para o efeito Werther (efeito contágio) pois pareceu ao pesquisador uma significativa hipótese de trabalho, especialmente entre estes casos mais obscuros. Esta pesquisa, portanto, visou verificar se entre seus participantes se constatava a existência de tal efeito, uma vez que o conceito trata do suicídio de celebridades e sua repercussão nas mídias de massa. Assim, este estudo se pretende interdisciplinar, partindo de um apanhado histórico do tema, passando pelas abordagens médica e sociológica, por uma revisão de literatura acerca do efeito Werther, pela apresentação das taxas de suicídio no mundo, no Brasil, no Estado de Santa Catarina e no município de Caçador e, por fim, a análise dos resultados obtidos da aplicação do questionário tendo como base uma discussão teórica. O instrumento de pesquisa construído foi validado por profissionais pesquisadores, e nos mostrou o perfil social dos participantes. Indicou que o público mais afetado por tentativas de suicídio e ideações são jovens adultos e adultos prestes a tornarem-se idosos. Indicou também que a não conclusão dos ciclos escolares está associada a maior taxa de tentativas de suicídio, que o emprego é um fator protetivo, bem como uma relação com parceiro(a) estável, que o maior número de filhos está relacionado a menores taxas de tentativas de suicídio, e que elas ocorrem mais no ambiente urbano. Acerca do efeito contágio entre pessoas que não são celebridades, os dados mostram claramente um aumento nos índices de tentativas de suicídio nos meses imediatamente posteriores àqueles em que houve picos de suicídios consumados, indicando que o efeito se observa entre pessoas comuns, e casos que não tiveram grande repercussão na mídia. Também mostrou que grande parte dos participantes conhecia e se identificava com a pessoa que fez tentativa de suicídio, mas paradoxalmente a mesma porcentagem negava que esta tentativa o teria estimulado a fazer o mesmo. Ao final do trabalho, discute-se o conceito de identificação, tal como é compreendido em psicanálise, e propomos uma interpretação desta aparente contradição. This research is the result of clinical practice in the Unified Health System in the city of Caçador/SC. During the year 2021, 51 cases of suicide attempts and suicidal ideation were treated at the Mental Health Psychology Service of the aforementioned municipality. Among these cases, a small number of patients were found, who, although not related to Mental Disorders or recent or remote events that could justify the attempt, still had ideations or attempted suicide that year. Initially, we sought to research with these participants what reasons led them to such an act. Little by little research was directed towards the Werther effect (contagion effect) as it seemed to the researcher a significant working hypothesis, especially among these more obscure cases. This research, therefore, aimed to verify whether among its participants the existence of such an effect was verified, since the concept deals with the suicide of celebrities and its repercussions in the mass media. Thus, this study intends to be interdisciplinary, starting from a historical overview of the theme, passing through medical and sociological approaches, through a literature review about the Werther effect, through the presentation of suicide rates in the world, in Brazil, in the State of Santa Catarina and in the municipality of Caçador and, finally, the analysis of the results obtained from the application of the questionnaire based on a theoretical discussion. The constructed research instrument was validated by professional researchers and showed us the social profile of the participants. It indicated that the public most affected by suicide attempts and ideations are young adults and adults about to become elderly. It also indicated that non-completion of school cycles is associated with a higher rate of suicide attempts, that employment is a protective factor, as well as a relationship with a stable partner, that a greater number of children is related to lower rates of suicide attempts, and that they occur more in the urban environment. Regarding the contagion effect among people who are not celebrities, the data clearly show an increase in the rates of suicide attempts in the months immediately after those in which there were peaks in completed suicides, indicating that the effect is observed among common people, and cases that do not had great media coverage. It also showed that most of the participants knew and identified with the person who attempted suicide, but paradoxically the same percentage denied that this attempt would have encouraged them to do the same. At the end of the work, the concept of identification is discussed, as it is understood in psychoanalysis, and we propose an interpretation of this apparent contradiction.
